Weekend Mini Haul (Oh No, I Can't Stay Away from the Shops)

I went for a haircut today (or rather a trim, because the last hairdresser did a really awful job with my short bob). The hairdresser recommended these for scalp care. I had to try them. The things I do to "keep it all together" eh? *big sigh* blog 001copy blog 002copy Then I walked over to Isetan to exchange the too-dark P&J Creamy Compact Foundation Refill I got last time in March. I was pleased that the SA let me change it, even though I had forgotten about it and waited more than 2 weeks. I got the 01 and she told me in future, I should get the 10 for the new formula. blog 004copy While there, I had to check if they had any pressed powder, because I have been using foundation powder for touch-ups and I don't think that's very good at all. Eventually, using my vouchers, I bought the pressed powder in 05. The SA said it's abit more natural and shimmery/glowy than 02. It's really light and nice, I like it. Since I had a voucher, it's ok to get it here I think, rather than wait to get it in Japan. And I've been wanting a P&J powder for a some time. blog 005copy I also got these issues of Japanese mags which have really cute bag packed together as gifts. I have to confess I bought the mags for the bags, because actually, Sweet is a little too young for me. Still, I like looking at the pretty things in the mag. *one more big sigh* blog 009copy But Miss on the other hand, turned out to be a good buy. I find I really like Miss alot. It's not too young but not too old. I think it's targetted at people in my age group! Lots of OL type of clothes and bags and makeup. There are alot of accessories in the magazine that I like, I need to figure out where they are from (darn, I wish I could read Japanese!). And a spread on Coach's Bonnie handbags caught my eye. It looks very "spring" and fun. And even some information on food and restaurants! I could use those, if I could figure out the addresses. *another big sigh* (I'm in a bit of a moody state today, after spending the whole day out. I tire so easily, especially if it involves battling crowds and noise. Plus I'm so unfit!) Here are the cute gifts. First, the Jill Stuart patent handbag. blog 007copy And then a L'occitane bag. blog 008copy The mag gave some ideas on how to use the L'occitane bag. Do you have any others? I don't think I could use them as regular bags. They're really cute but small. And I don't just want to use them as makeup pouches. blog 010copy I have in mind a tonne of things I want to get in Japan, despite the high yen. All those stuff I can't find back here in Singapore. By the way, do you know of any handbag designs that are Japan exclusives? © Copyright. All rights reserved.

Rogue's Hairstyle

Rogue, a character in Marvel's X-Men comic universe, is easily recognised by her streak of white hair. I am developing a patch of white hair exactly in the same way as Rogue's. I noticed it happens every time I experience some extreme personal emotional trauma. Last year, I had 3 strands of white hair. This year, my patch of white hair became larger. Just this week alone, my hair turned white so much that the patch is noticeably grey. I can now count more than 5 strands of white hair there. There's probably going to be more, because I see my hair pigment lightening in that area, becoming whiter overall. The rest of my hair remains dark. So it doesn't make sense to start dyeing my hair. I think I will just keep it like this, and make a style statement. Perhaps I can become as strong and powerful, sexy and stylish as Rogue as my patch of white hair grows. © Copyright. Shopping And More Shopping!

I went shopping yesterday determined to buy some Japanese cosmetics but though I spent more than 2 hours walking about trying the colours, I ended up not getting any. I did have a thought I might still go back and try out Lunasol and Coffret Dor again, just to satisfy my yearnings. I don't understand why I am so hesitant. (But there's a later development from today ... which you can find out if you read on ...)
Anyway first, about yesterday though. I found a good concealer and powder surprisingly, from Mac! Why do I say surprisingly? I say that because I always thought Mac is not suitable for me, because it seemed so American-focussed and I thought their colours will be more for Western skintones than Asian. But I was totally wrong. I went to the Mac counter after checking out Japanese cosmetic counters and Bobbi Brown, so I was thinking, I will try my luck with Mac. Interestingly, I spent only 2 minutes talking to the counter girl about concealer and powder, and in my heart had already decided I will buy those colours she recommended. Even before she let me try them on my face! So, when she said, "Let's try on your face," I had full confidence it will be a match and truly, they were good matches, plus the concealer is both moisturising and conceals well. I used both this morning, the powder over my Legere BB cream and felt my face looked very smooth, finished yet natural (I apply with a brush). I'm now a huge Mac fan and convert. I believe I will keep buying these base products in future as they are both good and not that pricey for the quality and great finish they produce. And will probably explore their colours too in future. In addition, I cut my hair and bought some hair products in the effort to try give my hair some volume. I can't help my hairloss. It runs in the family on my mom's side, we all lose hair early, but I could try to do the best with what I have. I bought velcro rollers to roll my hair after I showder in the morning, to create some volume. I am trying to avoid heating products like hair dryers to hopefully keep whatever hair I have left, in a healthy condition. My hair dries very fast anyway, due to the lack of it. LOL! I also bought hair spray that I saw on Bittenbefore's blog - Air Arrange! And more stuff... here's a photo of all the things I bought yesterday! I overspent, truly! (How could I have spent so much on so little???) Image010copy I have to say, the clay(?) shampoo is really good! It doesn't foam very much but cleans off everything without stripping the hair dry. It says alot that I've found this a good shampoo, because I have really oily scalp but limp and dry hair that's really a terror to manage (bad hair days everyday). This shampoo doesn't have sodium lauryl sulfate. Maybe that's the key. Anyway today, I was so stressed at work, so right after I completed all my work at the end of the work day, I ran out of the office and drove straight to Takashimaya. Then, I immediately bought the Kose and Kanebo items I fought against buying yesterday ... And though I feel I've spent waaaaaaay too much, I feel so contented now ... Image012copy
