Does Foundation and BB Cream Clog Your Pores?

A couple of months ago, I found my skin getting really awful. I had clogged pores, dehydrated yet oily skin, plenty of pimples and at one point I even eczema on my face! Things got better after I restarted using the Jurlique sensitive skincare range. However, my pores were still getting clogged up despite numerous de-clogging efforts (eg. extraction, masking, scrubbing etc).

In December, I started on my 1-month sabbatical leave from work. I was basically home most of the time, working on projects and left the house only 2-3 times a week for spots of shopping, and 2-3 hour classes. As a result, I only wore my sunblock and a light dusting of face powder when I went out.

Guess what happened?

Yep, my skin is no longer clogged! I don't even feel the need to mask and scrub 2-3 times a week.

I'm now thinking it must be the BB Cream and foundation that was clogging up my pores!

When I first came across BB cream, I thought it was the miracle solution. Skincare and makeup in one! In fact, some BB cream felt like they were doing pretty good stuff on my skin. Add to that the fact that I was religiously double-cleansing my skin to thoroughly remove makeup, I thought everything was going well. I certainly did not expect that BB cream and foundation would cause problems like clogged pores.

What do you think about this?

Me too. But i'm not sure izit because of bb cream and foundation. But my face is a lot better now. Still having some acne and clog pore. But i'm washing my face with 2 cleanser (or 2 time with same/ different cleanser)now, which mean i'm doing triple clean when i'm using bb cream/ foundation. 1-makeup remover. 2-milk cleanser. and 3-gel cleanser. I think this work..=)

i think so too, I know foundation clogs my pores for sure. although i reckon you should factor in pollution as well. since being home most of the time means less dirt, pollution and dirt getting blow against our face. so I wouldn't blame it all on bb creams and foundation.

I think foundation will clog your pores up if you don't clean it off good enough every night. I don't wear makeup regularly. Only when I go out to events.

I do think this is true too. I try to wear BBcream/ Foundation as little as possile, and saving it for special occassions as I've notice an effect on my skin. However, I find that proper foundation removal is also essential resulting in less clogged pores.

That's why I stopped wearing all of that stuff. My skin is much more healthy and radiant without. Moisturizer or sunscreen alone can clog pores too. It's not a matter of cleaning: I clean my face incredibly well.

I can't imagine using foundation and BB creams anymore.

I think BB creams does clogged my pores more than foundation. I am a person who seldom makeup but there are once when I used BB creams everyday my skin and pores are clogged so bad and I had to stop using it. After awhile i switch to foundation and it doesn't clogged my pores.

Definitely. I try to avoid heavy foundation and to double cleanse religiously. BB cream, like you pointed out, is great to even out skin tone, but I would really not encourage daily wear with it.

Ok. I had to google BB cream...apparently I'm not so well-versed in what's happening in the beauty world...lol

I wear foundation 5 days a week...but I don't have any blemishes except for a mild outbreak during that time of the month. I use Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil (the green one) to remove my makeup and cleanse. I don't go for facials but I use a serum daily. When I feel that my skin is dull, I use Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour cream and my skin is radiant again...it's mostly petroleum jelly and if you can get past the oiliness and the smell, go for it.

I think it's all about the right choice of products that u use. remember, we all have different skin types and you should listen to your skin. a product suitable for one doesn't always mean that it's ok for you too...

been using bb cream almost 6 month, occasionally there will be break out, blackhead or whitehead. My beautician always advise me not to use any bb cream but I just couldn't stop using it till one day my breakout getting worse and that really scare me off. Stop using immediately, gradually my skin become much better now. To me BB cream clog my pores and if really want to use it u have cleanse very thoroughly...

YES DEFINITELY BB Cream clogged up pores and causes acne!!! I was experimenting it with facial monthly and without facial monthly for a period of 3 months and I'm suffering from badly clogged skin right now. Having said that, for those babes who have their monthly facial, then BB cream is alright as long as you do your double cleansing at the end of the day. I wouldn't touch it anymore. Just dispose all 6 tubes of BB cream:) Just my 2 cents worth
